London Heathrow Airports Ltd staff have agreed on a series of strike days in December that is likely to impact airfreight operations in the approach to Christmas. The industrial action starts tomorrow with the first of two 24-hour strikes, these are followed by a 48-hour strike later in the month.

The dates currently planned are:

1st strike – 24 hours – Tuesday 1st December
2nd strike – 24 hours – Monday 14th December
3rd strike – 48 hours – Thursday 17th December through Friday 18th December

Goods will not be able to be transferred to and from aircraft during the industrial action and while it is not yet clear how this will impact airfreight during the build up to christmas, airlines have already been amending and bringing forward close off times for exports.

We will advise more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us if you are concerned about shipments that may be affected.
