As we have come to expect during the pandemic, port congestion and transport issues continue to impact delivery times on full load containers in the UK, which is also affecting LCL (less than container load) shipments.

Containers of LCL cargo are being impacted in the same way that full loads are, which means we are often experiencing lengthy delays to the amount of time it takes to unpack these containers. Therefore, customs clearance and delivery times are taking longer than we would usually expect.

The delays in unpacking LCL containers are caused by:

  • Major congestion at ports.
  • Limitations of collection slots to obtain containers.
  • Major restrictions on returning empty containers back to ports.
  • Higher than average volumes
  • Irregular scheduling and reliability, leading to planning issues.

While the impact on LCL unpack times is out of our usual controls, we are endeavouring to get deliveries made as soon as possible and will keep you advised of developments.
