While logistics have continued during the 21-day period, reports suggest that import containers are barely moving, which has resulted in carriers omitting calls at both Jawaharlal Nehru and Mundra ports.

The situation has led to a number of terminals and agents declaring ‘Force Majeure’ to limit their liability for delays caused due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Indian lockdown, a ban on 1.3 billion people leaving their homes, commenced 2 weeks ago and is set to expire next week. Logistics operations have continued to operate at a reduced capacity so that essential goods could continue to move.

Westbound operate a range of ocean and air freight services, both in and out of India, which means we will be continuing to monitor the situation closely and will update any major developments. In the meantime, we suggest customers contact us before arranging any new shipments.
