After an incredible professional career, Sam Eggington has officially announced his retirement, bringing to a close one of the most exciting and respected journeys in British boxing.

For the past 12 years, Westbound Logistics Services has proudly supported Sam throughout the majority of his professional career, watching him grow from a young prospect into a British, Commonwealth, European and World Champion.

Westbound co-owners Ryan Clark and Danny Horne have proudly supported Sam throughout the majority of his professional career, Ryan still remembers first seeing Sam compete on television during Matchroom’s Prizefighter competition back in 2014.

“I first saw Sam on TV during what was his second appearance in Prizefighter. He was only around 20 years old at the time and I remember thinking he looked brilliant. He lost a split decision to Johnny Coyle and I genuinely thought he should have got the win. I was sitting at home absolutely convinced he’d been hard done by.

I followed him afterwards on social media and then saw a post saying he was looking for sponsors. I sent him a message, we had a virtual handshake, from there, Danny and I quickly became fully invested in supporting Sam’s journey.”

What followed over the next 12 years became far more than a sponsorship arrangement. It became a long-term partnership built on trust, loyalty and mutual respect.

Over the years, Sam gave fans countless memorable nights and built a reputation as one of British boxing’s true warriors. From standout victories over fighters such as Denton Vassell and Dale Evans, to unforgettable nights against Frankie Gavin and former world champion Paulie Malignaggi, Sam consistently delivered entertaining, fearless performances.

The Midlands derby against Frankie Gavin remains one of the standout memories for the Westbound team.

“Me and Danny were there ringside that night and the atmosphere was electric,” Ryan recalls. “Then came the Paulie Malignaggi fight at the O2 in London, another unbelievable night. The body shot finish reminded me so much of the Gavin fight. They’re memories we’ll always keep.”

As Sam’s career progressed, he became recognised throughout British boxing not just for his fighting style, but for his consistency, professionalism and willingness to take on difficult fights. Multiple Fight of the Year awards and memorable battles only strengthened his reputation within the sport.

“Westbound as a company, and both Danny and I personally, are proud to have played a small part in Sam’s journey and to have supported the wider team around him over the years. What always worked so well for all of us was how straightforward everything remained throughout the years. No complicated contracts, no changing terms, no promises broken from either side. It was built on trust from day one and that’s something quite rare nowadays.

“I honestly don’t think there will be another boxing sponsorship that fits us the way this one did.”

While this marks the end of Sam’s professional boxing career, it also marks the beginning of a new chapter.

Everyone at Westbound Logistics Services would like to thank Sam for the memories, dedication and professionalism he has shown throughout the years. More importantly, we would like to thank him for the way he represented himself, his supporters and the sport throughout his career.

Congratulations on an outstanding career, Sam, and we wish you and your family nothing but success and happiness for the future.
