It was hoped that the Chinese New Year would bring a much needed circuit break for struggling Chinese ports, which to some extent it has.

However, there is little in the way of significant rate drops yet and ocean freight movements from Northern China have become more expensive than Southern China, due to an extreme equipment shortage in the North.

The latest port information is as follows:

Northern China:

Ningbo – Some improvement but still some port congestion
Qingdao – Operating relatively normally
Shanghai – Some improvement but still some port congestion
Tianjin – Operating relatively normally

Southern China:

Guangzhou – Operating relatively normally
Hong Kong
Operating normally but still suffering some covid issues
Shekou – Operating relatively normally
Shenzhen – Operating normally but still suffering some covid issues
Yantian – Operating relatively normally
