Two cargo ships have collided this morning in the Baltic Sea, with two crew members currently missing.
The collision, involving the British flagged general cargo ship ‘Scot Carrier’ and the Danish cargo ship ‘Karin Hoej’, took place around 3.30am this morning near Sweden.
The Karin Hoej is reported to have capsized, leading to an urgent rescue operation for two crew members that are believed to have been in the water.
At this moment in time, we hope and pray that both crew members are found safe and well.
Cargo Insurance
Incidents like the above highlight the risks involved in moving shipments internationally. Importers and exporters are only fully protected against losses incurred when they have adequate cargo insurance in place.
We recommend that all customers read our Cargo Insurance & Understanding Risk & Liability white paper HERE to ensure they are fully aware of the implications.
