It is one year since the ‘Ever Given’ blocked the Suez Canal and disrupted world trade and now the ‘Ever Forward’ is grounded on the US East Coast.

The ‘Ever Forward’, owned by the same Taiwanese carrier, ran aground in Chesapeake Bay on March 13th and has remained stuck in mud and clay for the past two weeks.

The ship is not blocking any shipping lanes, but ironically an attempt is being made today to refloat the vessel – exactly one year to the day that the ‘Ever Given’ was refloated in the Suez Canal.

According to the US Coast Guard, the ship was travelling in a channel that is 50 foot deep and then veered off on to a shallower route before being grounded.

Poor weather has hindered refloating attempts so far and there are no reports of injury, damage or spills.
