Westbound were proud sponsors of an Essex based charity event recently, in aid of the amazing Havens Hospices, which marked the end of a prominent public art display.

The ‘Hares About Town’ project has been on show throughout Southend-On Sea this summer, as 30 large hare statues and 53 smaller leveretts have been scattered around the town, much to the delight of locals.

Each hare has been uniquely designed and painted by individual artists, which has created a fantastic discovery trail for visitors during the past ten weeks.

However, the trail was packed up and the hares were on show ‘together’ for the first and final time last weekend. The farewell event, sponsored by Westbound,  was held over 24th-26th September at Wellbeing Garon Park, Southend.

The hares have now been auctioned off for charity raising over £200,000 for Havens Hospices, with the whole project raising £447,000 in total.
