The Festive Season is almost upon us and we would like to share a few words ahead of Christmas and New Year and to take a moment to reflect on 2024.
2024 started with major issues for carriers traversing the Red Sea as attacks from Houthi rebels intensified, this resulted in the re-routing of vessels around the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa. The ripple effect this created was felt globally and further impacted issues with port congestion and equipment shortages as well as destabilising freight rates throughout the year. Where these challenges have affected our customers supply chains we’ve continued to adapt and thrive, delivering excellence in service to our valued clients and keeping them updated and informed.
Elsewhere, Hostilities continue and our thoughts and prayers very much remain with the people impacted by the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
As we turn our thoughts back to home, 2024 has been particularly special for us as we celebrated 15 years of Westbound Logistic Services. This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of our clients, our dedicated team, and the partnerships we’ve built along the way. Thank you for trusting us to be a part of your journey.
We are proud of the innovative strides we’ve made this year, from streamlining supply chains to navigating global changes, ensuring our clients stay ahead in an ever-evolving market. We end 2024 with the news that James, our Commercial Director has decided to expand his horizons and embark on a new chapter that sees him leaving us in the New Year, James has been a long standing member of the Westbound team, helping to negotiate the challenges that day to day business presents during his time with us. While we bid him farewell, we celebrate the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for James and respect the choices that lead us all to growth and new adventures. It’s difficult to predict how 2025 will unfold. There are two events straight away which will begin to shape the landscape of the year. In January the change of presidency in the US and the threat of tariff increases to US imports could have ramifications on US trade development and as we recently reported the biggest reshuffle of carrier alliances in over a decade finalises in February. Despite the prospect of challenges on the horizon we’re excited about new opportunities and remain dedicated to helping your business grow. But for now, it’s time to pause, celebrate, and cherish the festive season.
