Chinese ports are being impacted by regional lockdowns and localised measures to combat covid, with the Omicron variant now spreading.

The situation varies port to port and may lead to carriers changing vessel rotations at short notice to avoid badly impacted ports.

This may be more likely in the next 2/3 weeks, as we have now entered the build up period to factory closures during Chinese New Year.

So, below is a summary of the position at some of the main Chinese ports right now.

Dalian – currently operating without lockdown or major restrictions.

Ningbo – Restrictions in place which mainly affect trucking in and out of the port and between Ningbo and other cities.  Significant delays, which have seen many shipments rerouted to Shanghai.

Qingdao – currently operating without lockdown or major restrictions.

Shanghai – currently operating without lockdown or major restrictions.

Shenzhen – Parts of Shenzhen are now in lockdown and delays are being experienced collecting and delivering containers. The port is open but up to date negative PCR tests are required to enter the port.

Tianjin – In lockdown with public now required to work from home with mandatory testing. The port is open but restrictions for truck drivers are causing delays.

Xiamen – currently operating without lockdown or major restrictions.
