Shanghai is bracing itself for Typhoon Chanthu, which is due to make landfall tonight, with the city closing its port and airports in preparation.

While the storm has been downgraded from a super storm to a strong one, it was still deemed significant enough for the container port to shut down container operations and Pudong airport to suspend all flights.

Xiamen and Ningbo ports have also been affected as vessels have been asked to vacate the storm area.

We await further information on when ports and airports will be reopening after the storm passes.
