The latest strike at Liverpool port has been cancelled as the Unite union and port management reached agreement over pay last week, which should bring the dispute to an end.
Another week long strike was due to commence today, 14th November, which would have been the fourth of its kind to impact one of the UK’s largest container ports since the walk outs began in September.
The dispute had turned sour during recent weeks, as both sides vehemently blamed each other for the breakdown in negotiations. However, Peel Ports made an increased offer, believed to be between 14 and 18%, which was accepted by the union and its members last week, calling an end to the planned industrial action.
Right now, there are no strikes at Liverpool or Felixstowe in sight, which will come as positive news to UK supply chain stakeholders. Sporadic actions continue to impact some northern european ports, with Antwerp being the latest to witness a walk out last week.
