Port workers at Felixstowe look set to walk out next month after the latest round of talks to avert strike action failed.

1,800 union members have now taken part in a vote, which resulted in 92% voting in favour of industrial action.

There are no dates confirmed for strikes, with the Unite Union pausing for ‘a short window of opportunity’ to return to the negotiating table.

The dispute follows a 5% pay rise offer from Felixstowe, which considering the rise in cost of living, is described as a pay cut by the union.

With Felixstowe being the UK’s largest container port, industrial action will have significant impact on supply chains.
