Air freight services from Asia have seemingly entered the peak season early and may be set for one of the highest peaks ever.

Space from several Asian origin airports is already coming under pressure, amid concerns that current capacity will not be enough to cater for all of the demand this year.

The Red Sea crisis is understood to be one of the contributing factors this year, where the longer ocean freight services around the Cape Of Good Hope, and unreliable schedules, have resulted in more demand for air freight.

Ecommerce and retail demand are strong ahead of the Black Friday and Christmas sales periods, while new electronic product launches, including phones and tablets, always take up much of the capacity at this time of year.

As is always the case in a fluctuating supply and demand market like Asia, high rates accompany high demand and we are already seeing increased pricing on several routes

Some industry experts believe that the peak we are heading into is going to be one of the highest ever from Asia.

Therefore, we advise customers to try and stay ahead of the situation by moving ocean freight shipments as early as possible, although we appreciate that is sometimes easier said than done.
